You're acting like boxing is some dramatic film with an exciting underworld and ****. Its not. It's a bunch of rich guys matching up their fighters and all of them get paid.

If Clottey was so good, why did no credible boxing writers pick him to win? Because everyone in boxing media (along with yourself, it seems) were all "in the know" about the fight being fixed?

Why cant you accept that Pacquiaos midget ass dominated Clottey like he dominated all his recent opponents? Arum has been matching Pacquiao with guys that come forward, because Pacquiao ****s up guys that are really offensive, and Clottey's slow, inactive style was tailor made for Pacman. You don't need to bribe fighters that never had a chance in the first place, dude.
These ppl are idiots and just don't seem to understand how a fixed fight works, it would have been better to fix it so Clottey won so Arum could make more $$$ betting on him seeing as he was a huge underdog.

What did ppl expect from Clottey though, that is how he always fights. catch and counter but he just ended up catching more than trying to counter because pac throws so much.

whoever thought the outcome of that fight wasnt predictable was fooling themselves. when u have a fighter who refuses to throw, even to the point where he gives up fights, fighting a guy who throws fast and often, wtf did u expect? I see no reason to think it was fixed tho. just perfectly matched. Arum had ppl believing clottey was a big bruiser when he really wasn't and never has been

Yes it was very good match making for Pac on Arum's part.

Came across this highlight reel, by accident...or maybe I just kept refreshing the youtube search waiting for something on Joshua Clottey to come up, your choice. Didn't wanna create a thread, but thought I'd throw it in here for anyone interested, it's actually not that bad:

              and something older

                .
No, YOU don't understand how betting works.

How much would multi-millionaire Bob Arum have to bet on the fight for it to be meaningful for him? Keeping in mind the prospective lost revenue for future Pacquiao fights after Manny lost.

Washed up fighter. Had a lot of potential though. Too bad he couldn't use it.

Bold: Clottey actually isn't that bad...Still one of my favorite fighters. Clottey's situation in the eyes of that fans is a sad one. My biggest knock on Clottey is he is to injury prone (also finds alot of excuses), but some fans just hate him for the Pac fight and nothing else....Sad really. Dude is a skilled fighter.

I have said before, and still stand by it, Clottey was victim of his own style in the Pac fight. If he would have let his hands go more, he would have beat Pac. That is his style though...Most who have not seen him alot, or followed his career say he threw the fight. Most of his fans like me, knew he would handle Pac when he let his hands go, the question was, would he let his hands go. We find out the answer.

Clottey is a good solid fighter. Always has been.

not sure if you implied it, but in case you mistook my words, I never thought Clottey was a bad fighter. And I agree with you that his style, and approach to that fight lead to his downfall, but then again we could use that excuse to a lot of fights, can't we? I still believe Pac would have won if Clottey chose to let his "hands go;" Pac was too fast for Clottey, and in my opinion, Clottey would've exposed himself to a myriad of punches, but neither one of us will ever know with 100% certainty.

I like Clottey, I think he's a skilled fighter, he's solid defensively, he possess a good offensive repertoire, and he has an underrated punch. His KO ratio is 50%, but seeing how he could be more active in his fights, that number could've potentially been higher, so fans shouldn't analyze the numbers too much....and maybe I shouldn't either...but if you remember Pacquiao speaking of Clottey's power, his expression thereafter indicated Clottey hit him with some hard shots and you could tell...it only took like 3 rounds for Pac to have that welt under his eye. Further more, watch a few of his fights, Judah, Margarito, Cotto...you can tell the guy can punch.

My advice to Clottey is to put the past behind him, get out there and fight. I've heard he wants Top Rank to pay him more money, but dude, you're not getting multi-million paydays anymore, just take a fight and begin to prove your rank. I suggest going straight up to 154, the layoff could make it hard for a big guy like him to get back down to 147....unless he's been keeping himself within weight this whole time, doubt it.
