Comments Thread For: Golovkin vs Simon is Set For 10/15, Eyes Sturm Shot

Itīs on: after some apparently tough and difficult negotiations itīs now a fact that WBA standard middleweight champ Gennady Golovkin will defend the title October 15 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, against Lajuan Simon. The deal was almost done, then it seemed to be off but it's now on again with Delta Box Promotion staging the event that will feature cruiserweights Isa Akberbaev and Zapir Rasulov on the undercard. It will be televised live in Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. [Click Here To Read More]

You have got to be effing kidding me. Golovkin's promoters have been doing nothing but feeding him softies and washed up opponents and now they recycle effing Simon, who has lost three of his last five fights? For F$&?@ Sakes the guy is talented. He effing Ko'd Bute with one punch in the unpaid leagues. Why do they keep feeding him effing no hopers?

I wonder if Sturm's promoters want the fight.

The only way Golovkin can make statement is to get a KO.

sucks to hear the ndamn fight couldn't be made. a fight with sturm would be awesome, not sure if he's rematching macklin or not. this fight doesn't do much for gennady though, this simon guy's last fight was a sd loss in 2010, to a guy with like 6 losses.

Tough spot for Golovkin. If he fights a top fighter and beats him impressively then Sturm will never face him.

Fight some complete bums and make it hard to judge his talent and maybe he gets the big money fight. However, he's gonna take schtick from the fans for going that route.

haha, i always thought manny should do that to get a shot at floyd (before the ost demands came about) instead beating every opponent up to a bloody pulp. i'd love to see golovkin/pirog, that'd be like the fight to determine the next MW king. perhaps after this though, golovkin can get himself a tough opponent, really looking forward to seeing more of gennady.

You might have something. Pirog keeps talking about wanting a big fight and yet, like Golovkin, he is defending again against a softy. Why not make Pirog-Golovkin. It would be a great fight. The reality is Sturm, N'Dam and Chavez aren't going near these guys. Geale maybe, and Martinez maybe once one of them makes a name for himself. A Golovkin-Pirog war would make the winner pretty marketable, IMO, especially if they can get it on TV

The WBA should do the right thing and force N'Jikam and/or Sturm to fight Golovkin.

But the WBA is the very worst sanctioning organization, so they never will.
