I'm still a fan of Andre Berto.....

I think hes still has the talent to be a great WW.... His explosive power and hand speed is still there... He showed a lil grit against Ortiz.....

    Berto can still be great....

This fight coming up fighting a top Belt Holder Zevack....

I still think he has what it takes...

Berto will never be great and was never going to be great with the way he was brought up.

Also Berto did not have "explosive power" and skill was was above average.

defense is none existent. He should have changed trainers years ago. It's too late now.

      Horrible investment by HBO.

This pretty much sums it up. Every decent name he faced said he didn't punch very hard. He has poor footwork, no head movement (every time he tried to move his head against Quintana, he got caught easily) and loads up way too much.

But I will say, he has some great accuracy. Of course, accuracy alone won't get you very far if you don't know how to use it. I always saw him as a ticket to Pacquiao or Floyd waiting to be taken, and Victor Ortiz was the first lucky candidate. I thought Mike Jones or Tim Bradley would be.

I have always liked Berto and I have always made it a point to talk about things he needs to change. as it has been stated he loads up too much and doesn't use timing to gauge when to throw hard. his speed is great. defense is a huge problem. he can still make an impact. he has heart and he badly wants to be great so we will see

I always thought Mike Jones would have stopped him.

I never understood what people saw in him.

Berto doesnt have all the skills necessary to be a great undefeated champion, but he has heart and thats all I need to be a fan of his. Time will tell if he can learn from his mistakes but I would like him to succeed just to spite the haters. BTW the way he aint as bad as people make him out to be, there are lots of protected champs, like Lucian Bute and Chavez Jr. But I guess he's judged on a different level.

Nothings wrong with that, he's got raw talent but lacks fundamentals.

If matched accordingly he will make for some entertaining fights bcse of his interest in punching and disregarding every other aspect of the sport.

He should just look for high contact type fights and stick to that

Know your niche and he'll make good money and have some ESPN classics
