not sure im in cali and im pretty sure no one here knows him, the guy had just 2 fights televised in HBO from what i know, for example, if juan diaz goes over to fight in the phillipines, and its televised there, would it get high ratings? give it some time its no ones fault, especially not HBO's

Davis said that while Pacquiao may be a big draw in the Philippines, he was a disappointment in terms of HBO TV ratings and his last fight against Marquez “rated only 4.5 percent,” which Davis disclosed was below the HBO standard of “no less than 6 percent.”

He said fighters who “fail to get the required ratings on HBO are scheduled on Boxing After Dark” which is regarded as a lower level boxing program where the total purse for both fighters is only some $500,000 to $600,000.

That really sucks. The most entertaining Featherweight and one of most entertaining boxers ever, period, and he's getting called a disappointment? That is really bad to hear. I thought HBO was all giddy for Manny(well as long as he beat Marquez), looks like they aren't.

It doesn't matter to HBO who the fighters are or where they comne from. All they care about is profits which comes from good ratings. But they are terribly wrong and unfair if they are taking the first Pacman-JMM as a gauge for the next bout. The situation now is totally different than the last time. Pacman has since become the most sensational and exciting fighter today so the next fight with JMM would absolutely be a smash hit to fans. HBO doesn't have to be that ******!

You obviously are not understanding the wit of the comment, are you? The statement "He's a household name, just not in you're household" is referring to the ethnic divisions that are a detriment to boxing. Boxing is really a cult sport that survives on the hispanic fans and smaller ethnic support.
