  • Comments Thread For: Tyson, Duran Watch Miranda-Despaigne Trade Words

On Wednesday afternoon, boxing legends Mike Tyson and Roberto Duran were present at the Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The two Hall of Fame boxers sat back and watched light heavyweights Edison Miranda (34-5, 29KOs) and Yordanis Despaigne (8-1, 4KOs) trade words during the final press conference for this Friday's ESPN televised, which takes place at the Cosmopolitan. Junior welterweights Lamont Peterson and Victor Cayo are matched in the main event in an IBF mandatory elminator.

I should move to Las Vegas and get some autograph gloves from them retired boxers. ESPN is looking solid this Friday not like last week's snoozefest.

          great card

ESPN has been doing things right this year

          hats off

their broadcasts are often my favorite cards of the weekend and the ones i look forward to most

they really have been putting some exciting fights out there

miranda and despaine should be fun
and cayo and peterson is a legit fight for a very solid ranking and a potential shot at a world title down the line that should be fun and competitive, if not super high contact.

The Miranda fight is already big for Despaigne, who lost his last outing against Ismayl Sillakh. Yordanis -- 31 years old, but only nine professional fights -- is stepping up the competition very quickly. If he drops this next fight against Edison, his career will be on life-support before it even gets started.

This should be a good fight. Miranda's career is losing steam; he needs a win just as much as Despaigne. And I have a feeling the words at the press-conference will affect the way Despaigne approaches the fight. He seems very proud and emotional. This one is likely to get nasty.

                  Interesting matchup.

I have a feeling that Despaigne will win, but Miranda has a good chance if he's at his best.
