  • Comments Thread For: Lederman Reflects on The Scoring of Williams-Lara

The boxing world has been buzzing over the highly-controversial decision rendered in the HBO main event between Paul Williams and Erislandy Lara on July 15th, a bout in which Lara seemed to dominate yet was deemed the loser by majority decision by judges Donald Givens, Hilton Whitaker III and Al Bennett.

The fight was on July 9 not July 15.

this guy makes no sense at all. he scored alexander-kotelnik and calzaghe-hopkins for the 2 guys throwing air punches not for the guys doing the most damage. now he's saying the opposite? he's even said multiple times he scores rounds for guys coming forward and being busy. no consistency at all.

if you are gonna ignore the rules of judging and make up your own rules at least stick with them. don't use the official rules sometimes and then your own rules other times depending on which fighter you like more. you just look totally disingenuous.

Good post. This guy has scores are usually disgracefull andhe has the balls to past judgementon three morons from Atlantic City. He usually favors Americanfighters or HBO hyped fighters no matter what.
I still remember he had williams winning againts quintana the first time they met when williams was still beingpampered by HBO. By the way it was quintana he laid down the blue print on how to beat williams not martinez as everyone seems to believe

Lederman usually is spot on with his scoring, but only when those fights dont involve AA fighters. Just watch the Kotelnik-Alexander fight, dude was sloberring over air punches and even the biased Kellerman was like uhmm dude wtf you scoring?

Harold Lederman is well-respected and knows what he's talking about!

even though lederman has a bad rep, it's good to see him siding against pwill's gift decision. the decision should be changed though, temporarily suspending the 3 judges isn't enough imo. either way, hopefully lara gets more big fights.

Those 3 boxing judges should be banned for life, suspension means nothing.
