Chris John doesnt fight outside of his country or most of his fights are in Asia for the simple reason that he probably earn more there than in the US and no promoters will pay top dollars for Chris John to fight in the US against their fighters especially Bob Arum, Gamboa's promoter.
Chris John is also not well known around the US.
Chris John is not an exciting fighter cos he boxes but his style is difficult to beat or look good against. Just ask JMM.
I personally think because of Gamboa own flashy style the fight, if he fights Chris John, will not be a dull match and Gamboa can actually win the match but it won't be easy. It's 50/50.
Its a high risk and low reward (probably to Arum) for Gamboa to fight Chris John and that is why the match is not made.

He's a world class boxer and isn't a pusy like Mayweather either, he can brawl when needed. He just isn't a big puncher, but neither is Floydy.
