larry put pac on this top 10 p4p list after the ledwaba fight. 2 years before pac even beat barrera.

Yes I know you're right. I recall that on Video, after a fight, Larry was discussing Barrera and his claim to be the best featherweight, Larry said that he thinks that first barrera would have to face this kid Manny Pacquiao. And he doesn't know if barrera would be able to stand up to Manny's straght left hand which is knocking everyone over, that he feels that Pacquiao would probably move up to face Barrera.

That was the first time I'd ever heard of Manny P. I wasn't interested in the very light weights. I also think I'd moved into an area then where I could get boxing on TV again, after a long hiatus.

This interview was taken over a year ago. He says it in the last answer in the interview.

Larry has never been the type to pull punches or bite his tongue. I've heard Merchant critisize many fighters and give his honest, borderline rude assessment of fighters.

So given Merchant's wisdom, it puzzles me when I hear this statement. Especially after hearing Roach's take on his "don't ask don't tell policy" regarding a few of his fighters that have used in the past.

It's funny that Merchant says "I believe Freddie Roach". Not "I don't think Manny would use".

it's sad that larry merchant hates the defensive/counterpunching/philly shell style. He hates floyd and hopkins real bad. Not even the style either, cause he also hated on roy jones big time, and look at jones' style. He hates berto. I hate to say this, but the fighter he hates are all black, but he doesn't hate all black fighters. I have seen him praise mosley and tavoris cloud.
