  • Comments Thread For: Roach: Khan Stronger, Will Take a Better Punch at 147

Trainer Freddie Roach expects his boxer, WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan, to be stronger and more resilient at 147-pounds. Khan is going to move to 147 in early 2012. He plans to make one final defense of his junior welterweight crown in December. At 135-pounds, Khan went down in a few fights and he was knocked out in less than a minute by Breidis Prescott in 2008.

i respect freddie roach but his opinion here is only theoretical. there is no guarantee khan's chin will be stronger at 147.

I'm willing to bet on Roach's assumptions of his own fighter over anyone else.

if khan is already starting to struggle with 140 he'll have no chioce but to move up to 147.....

khan is a massive jr. welter. so much so that he'd even make a huge welterweight........

khan will happily take any tests to easily outpoint old floyd.

The only fight left for him at 140 is Bradley,so unless bradley comes out of hiding hele move up and fight warm ups, then for easy title, then floyd if possible.

It stands to reason that Khans chin will further improve at 147.

Khan will never have a brawler’s type chin that will allow him to take multiple flush hard shots without getting hurt. In all fairness though he doesn’t need to his speed both hand and feet more than make up for that.

                  I agree...

He keeps a watchful eye on the progress of his fighters.

Ofcourse his chin will improve, but will also be facing bigger punches.
