Jorge Linares (31-1, 20KOs) advised BoxingScene.com that Antonio DeMarco (25-2-1, 18KOs) is probably going to be his next opponent, with the vacant WBC lightweight title at stake. The belt was vacated by Humberto Soto when he moved up to the junior welterweight division. The fight is reportedly being targeted for the Bernard Hopkins-Chad Dawson undercard on October 15 in New Jersey. After DeMarco, Linares told BoxingScene that he wants to unify the titles with Brandon Rios, the WBA champion.

I like the sound of Linares/Rios if Linares gets passed DeMarco which I'm pretty sure he will. But this is boxing anything can happen.

Looking past your opponent is never good but yeah i like dermarco in this one he should avoid rios unless he wants another beating ala valero

The under-card might be better than the main event. I don't expect to see the same active Hopkins we saw against Pascal. I think Hopkins and Dawson will fight very cautious, might look a bit look Hopkins/Wright.

I don't know who to pick in Hopkins/Dawson. It hurts my head thinking about it because I think this is an opponent I can actually see Bhop losing to.

Linares vs Gesta with the winner getting Rios would be good. Gesta vs DeMarco is not as good because DeMarco gets hit too easy and he and Gesta are friends and one or both would decline.

So what if they're friends, its not like they're blood brothers. I'd fight my friend if they paid me money. Taylor and Lacy fought each other but they were friends. Taylor landed a couple hard bombs on Lacy in that fight too.
