  • Comments Thread For: Valuev Has Faith in Povetkin Beating The Klitschkos

Former WBA world champion heavyweight Nikolai Valuev (50-2, 34 KOs) has no immediate plan to return to the ring. The heavyweight division is ruled by Wladimir (56-3, 49 KOs) and Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KOs). According to the 37-year-old Valuev, his stablemate in Sauerland Event, Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15 KOs), is the only boxer capable of beating the Klitschko brothers. Povetkin will face Ruslan Chagaev on August 27 for the vacant WBA "regular" title. Wladimir Klitschko is the WBA's "super champion."

Not sure if Povetkin even gets passed Chagaev. It seems Povetkin fought lesser competition ever since he paired up with Atlas. Wlad may have made Chagaev look like an easy fighter to beat up on but thats Wlad he does that with most of his opponents. I'm expecting Chagaev to give Povetkin lots of problems if not pull off a mild upset.

Valuev doesn't want to be known as the giant who got KO'd by the Klitschkos. Valuev is too slow for Klitschkos and he knows that, he doesn't want to be embarrassed for a paycheck. Valuevs big ass doesn't have Hayes running ability so he can't survive. So it would either end with Valuev brutally KO'd or he will take a non-stop beating like Shannon Briggs.

I agree -- Chaggy is no easy out, especially if he's properly prepared. My thinking is that Atlas has ruined Povetkin and Chagaev is going to pull off the mild upset.

Seems like Valuev isn't too interested ... Vitali wants to kick his ass, for sure.

                    no hope

to bad povetkin does not have the same confidence as valuev or we would have seen a fight between wlad and povetkin 2 years ago but he keeps finding new way to dodge wlad now he get to fight for a worthless title that belongs to chagaev in the first place but was striped of for no reason
