BRADLEY-PACQUIAO NEXT : Tim to Fight on Undercard on Nov 12 (BLH)

Richard Schaefer Says Bradley Has Been Promised Pacquiao, Will Fight on Undercard

by Scott Christ on Jul 24, 2011 1:30 PM EDT in Boxing News Analysis

Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions speculated yesterday at the Khan vs Judah post-fight press conference that junior welterweight Timothy Bradley has been promised a fight with Manny Pacquiao by Top Rank, and that he'll fight on the November 12 undercard of the Pacquiao vs Marquez III event in Las Vegas.

    From Ryan Maquiñana:

"What’s wrong with December [for a Khan vs Bradley fight]?" [Schaefer] asked aloud. "He’s not available in December? Probably not. Probably because he’s going to be fighting on the Pacquiao card and is promised the Pacquiao fight, that’s why. We don’t need to wait for that, that kind of bull****, that kind of plays and games, and so on. We’re in the boxing business. We’re not in the gaming business."

First of all, I love Schaefer's idea that "the boxing business" isn't filled with "plays and games and bull****," or, if more applicable, his idea that Golden Boy has never taken part in any of it. You might think that Schaefer wouldn't make this comment, considering it pretty much says that Top Rank did contact Timothy Bradley before Bradley's contract with Gary Shaw Productions and Thompson Boxing was up (which was heavily rumored, with Shaw serving papers to Top Rank, but never proven as true fact).

Currently, Top Rank and Golden Boy are working together again, signing a Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Daniel Ponce de Leon fight for September 10, and Oscar de la Hoya is even saying good morning to Bob Arum on Twitter.

Why poke the bear for a comment about Timothy Bradley, who is currently in a lawsuit with Shaw and Thompson, when you could just say, "That guy's in a lawsuit and isn't fighting anyone. He had his chance." And Schaefer did say that, but then he went on with the Pacquiao claim, which seems counterproductive to me. I don't know.

But anyway, if you're wondering why I didn't mention Tim Bradley earlier as a next fight for Khan, this is why. Golden Boy seems to have zero intention to go calling for Bradley again. Khan's probably taking one more fight at 140 at most, and then targeting Floyd, if he doesn't go to 147 for Kell Brook next. Bradley's out of the loop now, as good as he is.

He can't fight until his legal troubles are up. This is purely speculation.

But if Pac goes straight to Bradley without re-negotiating with Mayweather then we will know what is really up, and I think it has to do with Arum.

      It's clearly speculation by RS.

But the reality is that Tim can easily get a judge to lift an injunction, if any.

Right now, I consider Bradley a Top Rank fighter. His non-denial was a giveaway.

          Manny is Arum's puppet.

Those people have a servant culture. A follower's mentality. They do what their bosses, or perceived bosses, tell them to do. That is how Manny thinks.

So, WHEN (not if) Top Rank finalizes Tim, that will be the next opponent for Manny. Because that is what Arum wants. Bob doesn't want to do the Mayweather fight.

Think about it: do you think it was MANNY who "wanted WADA and not USADA"?

          Manny can't even spell WADA.

Pacquiao vs Bradley is a good fight, but why not fight Floyd next if he beats Ortiz? If Tim does officially sign with Top Rank there's no way that he fights Khan next. That should have been Bradley in there fighting Khan this weekend not Judah.

am sure Arum is definitely dangling the Paq carrot in from of any fighter that he would want to sign, still doesnt mean he would get that fight, i hope he would but its still doesnt mean he didnt duck Khan, Timmy said so himself and i agree with him.

Bradley and Pacquiao is very easy to negotiate than negotiating to a person who dont want 65m. There's a many ways of ducking. First is retiring ang second is asking/demanding a new test. It doesnt mean that Floyd call out Manny that he is next that he really want to fight him. Asking to much demand like 100m and a test is an act of a coward. If Manny will fight Bradley just because Manny has nothing to face if Floyd wont face him in the ring. Bradley is a good test for Manny's ability could be a good fight. No hurt feeling man, I always want Floyd vs Manny but it seems Floyd what to retire again hiding his "O" that to risk to a fighter of the decade.
