Comments Thread For: Anthony Dirrell Stops Kevin Engel In Two; Elegele Drops Shocker

By Jake Donovan - Two bouts featuring undefeated prospects, both ending on a foul.

The difference between the two was that Anthony Dirrell was better - and luckier - than Joseph Elegele on this particular evening.

It was a quick night for the 2004 US Boxing Olympian, who scored a second round knockout of Kevin Engel in the main event of ESPN2 Friday Night Fights at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, California. [Click Here To Read More]

Even though it ended with a low blow it was pretty clear it was going to end with a Dirrell stoppage of some kind very soon.

He should step his comp up now and see what he really has.

He was originally fighting Alejandro Berrio but he pulled out. That's a HUGE step up. I hope either that or an Allan Green fight happen soon.

Green is moving up to LHW.

Perhaps he can fight Andrade or Pryor Jr.

He called both brothers out though, so who knows. Aaron Pryor Jr would be a good choice though. Especially after his win over Andrade. Brian Magee might be good too. He's tough as hell.

Kevin Engel was getting pounded. I think he could've got up from the low blow if he wanted to but decided to stay down.

Teddy was at it again. After Elegele was Knocked down, Atlas gurgled about his skill and domination, until he was seriously hurt again in the fourth. The fact that Elegele's jab was falling short, Martinez was staying just out of range, and he was being counter punched effectively, didn't register with Teddy. Maybe he doesn't know it all.
