I know when Floyd retired Pacquiao took the pound for pound #1 spot but if Im not mistaken floyd neve beat the #1 pound for pound fighter to take the #1 spot either right? so these 2 fighters fighting each other is very important to boxing in my opinion

It's very rare to have two high ranked p4p fighters fight each other, let alone two guys that can both be argued p4p #1. You don't see the generally considered p4p best fighter lose to someone who immediately takes his spot that often, at least not recently. -
How often are the top fighters p4p in the same division..thats why fmj vs manny is so special only happens a few times in a lifetime. You dont gain p4p crown by just beating the number one its tour collective wins and the manner in which yiu dominate everytime you fight.Comment

PBF beat Marquez and Mosley when the both were considered #3 in the p4p list. Impressive for his last two fights but like it was said before its not often the top 2 p4p guys are in the same division. And not ony current p4p but maybe alltime.Comment

Exactly. marquez was actually Number 2 or 1, arguable at the time PBF beat him.
The argument when PBF returned was that JMM was number 2, but should be number 1 because they felt as though JMM won the fights, thats why the fight was billed as 'Numero UNO ".
So depending on where you ranked PBF (1-3) at the time he returned, that would have been the P4P 1 and 2 fighting each other, or the P4P 2-3, or 1-3.
people tend to forget that because of how easily floyd won.Comment
