Tyson's broken back wasn't an excuse, that quote came after a first round KO victory. There were just talk before the Etienne fight that the bout would fall apart in the days before so that was Tyson's response to why there was controversy,

My favorite excuse remains George Foreman's "I was about to knock out Ali but I got distracted by my disloyal friend in the audience rooting for Ali and then the moment passed". Keep in mind this is from his autobiography By George, which came out in the 1990s.

It's fine, it's too bizarre to leave out.

Kermit Cintron said the fumes from the hairgel/moose in Sergio Martinez's hair hurt his performance.

I thought it was a joke as it would be such a horrendous excuse but then I remembered that it was Kermit Cintron talking.

Barrera's excuse for his first loss to Pac was that he had to move his training camp because of a forest fire. And that the boxing public had found out about a metal plate in his head or something. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
