I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Hagler. Don't really know why but Hagler was just so freakin well built, like a tank. I don't know, I am just gravitating towards Hagler for some reason.

Damn Im going to have to go with Robinson. But wait at what weight are we talking? 160? 147?(even though Hagler didnt fight there) or at a catchweight like 154?

Id still go with Robinson, too good in every department and was a murderous puncher with either hand. Harder puncher than Leonard and Leonard got some respect from Hagler so I say Robinson.

I'm going with the Marvelous One. Ray was very skilled, but he lost to much lesser men than Hagler.People seem to only remember the Hagler that fought Leonard. At that point, he was still very good but a snitch past his prime.(But then again,so was Leonard)The Hagler in his prime could do it all. He had a viscious jab, KO power in both hands, good hand and foot speed, solid defense, and a granite chin. I truly don't think Ray could hurt him. Ray would never hit him as hard as Hearns did and he would not dazzle him like Leonard did. Ray would win the early rounds with his speed, but in a 15 round fight, Hagler was just a beast. Ray Robinson was great, but he has never had a fearless champion that loved going to war like Hagler standing in front of him. At a catch weight, things could possibly be different. But at 160, I think Hagler was the best. Not to insult any Robinson fans, but I wonder how successful Robinson would have been in Hagler's era. Could he stand up to a tall skillfull KO artist like Thomas Hearns? What about Duran and his pressure and sneaky defense and counter punching ability. Maybe he gets by those guys but I will be one of the first to say that he loses to Leonard at 147, but wins at 160. Is Robinson the greatest of all times, or are people just in the habit of saying he is. I've watched and studied his most popular fights. He was truly amazing to watch. But with the flaws he had and the way he threw a lot of his punches, I see Hagler catching him.

At 1st glance,the majority would say Robinson,by default of course.But as I review further,I have to go with Hagler.Hagler made a career at 160 while Robinson was the dominating welterweight of his era.He wasn't that big,5-10 I believe.which was big in those days,but slighly average in Hagler's days.

I think Haglers strength,pressure & boxer-puncher abilities would have overwhelmed Sugar & Hagler would come on strong in the 2nd half of the fight to win a clear but competitive ud.Robinson is all time greater,siply because boxing was much more brutal in his day & he fought more,did more with less.I was gonnna continue,but we'll leave that for another time.

Robinson wasn't all that slick. He was a solid defensive fighter with some subtle moves, but not exactly a slickster.

Hagler would give Robinson problems with his wonderful jab and all-around skills, but Robinson was well, Robinson. Fast, powerful, a vast array of punches from different angles, tough as hell. Both guys are complete fighters. I'll say Robinson takes 2 of 3, with all of the fights being close decisions.
