LOL hahahahahahaha tell that to ATG Hearns hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SRL BEAT REAL ATG FIGHTERS IN THEIR PRIMES, WITH NO CATCH WEIGHTS, SHOT, OLD, WEIGHT DRAINED TARGETS.
HELL THE MAN CAME OUT OF RETIREMENT AND BEAT PRIME HAGLER FAWK OUT OF HERE FANBOY!
The only way Pac could top that is to retire for 2-3 yrs then come back and beat the top WW or JMW not bloody likely.
Leonard beats Pacquiao, but Hagler wasn't in his prime. He peaked in the early 80s, probably the Sibson fight in 1983, and had clearly slowed down in defensive reflexes and leg/foot speed. Leonard for that matter, was past his prime (and a smaller guy) by 1987 as well.
Leonard turned into a bit of a cherrypicker late in his career and also demanded catchweights. But the prime, pre-retina Leonard fought crazy opposition with Benitez, 2 Duran fights, Hearns, and Kalule inside a 22
month period.

Before the Loss to SRL, Hagler was on a 35 win streak, and just beat Mugabi and Hearns. That's pretty prime IMO.

Leonard has freely admitted that seeing Hagler's decline against Mugabi motivated him to want to come out of retirement to fight him. It's pretty clear from watching his fights in the early 80s and then seeing him in the Roldan & Mugabi fights that his defensive reflexes had slowed down, resulting in him getting hit more. Roldan was pretty damn slow yet he was hitting Hagler with consistency with right hands. Against Mugabi, you can also see how his legs weren't the same. Just watch how well he navigated the ring against Hamsho the first time around, and then how his legs looked against Mugabi.
He still had a ton of other strengths to fall back on, however, as those guys (and especially Hearns) found out.
