Photos don't do much justice, it looks like Green was on the back foot, almost running and very negative. Was this the case? I haven't seen the fight yet.

Much props to tarver at least he has the balls to go up to heavyweight and cruiserweight and heavyweight to fight. For my money Tarver has the greater legacy then bhop-less he was the first man to knock off rjj and was the light heavyweight king and he when up to cruiserweight and got a ko. bhop-less is scared and been avoiding James Toney request of a catch-weight fight at 200 pounds and he ducked Danny green and was constantly ducking Dawson until Dawson suffered a close lose to pascal but I saw that fight as a win for Dawson. Toney and Tarver KO bhop-less

Forget all that stuff..... Hopkins ruled his division undefeated for over a decade.

Tarver pressed the action for much of the fight, but running and negative didnt really happen.

Tarver controlled the distance and the pace of the fight, Green did not come inside often enough to get his game going, and he was not aggressive enough, when he did fight more aggressively he was more successful.

I wouldn't use the word running or negative, just a little outmatched.

It was a C-fighter vs a faded A-fighter, it was obvious early that Tarver would win a decision if Green could not stop him, so it quickly became a question of whether Tarver could go 12 rounds.

He could have gone 12.

Green still had a fight-changing punch at that stage, but he was starting to take some punishment. It was a fair stoppage because Green was so far behind on the cards, but I thought that maybe he could have continued after the break to try to land that shot.

Green came out swinging hard, but landed nothing and his corner told him to settle down. The first meaningful punch Tarver landed sent Green reeling across the ring into the ropes. The second punch bounced Green on his arse. After that he became very negative until the seventh and eighth rounds when he rallied and spent everything he had. Tarver was miles ahead on points when the TKO came.

Everything Tarver did seemed very deliberate. He dominated with disarming simplicity. Green clearly has no clue against southpaws. Two of his other losses came against Marcus Beyer, also a leftie.

I saw the fight and the above is very accurate. To the poster who said the photo is misleading. Yes it is because Green was knocked down with an incredible counter left uppercut that he didn't account for at all.

Green went down in the 2nd round from Tarvers overhand left also but it wasn't ruled as a knockdown. Tarver hit him and the ropes only kept Green up.

Green started off aggressive and by mid fight he was the one backing up which is the best thing you can do to an aggressive fighter because he couldn't fight backing up.

In Round 7 or 8 I believe he landed a nice right on Tarver that Tarver did later acknowledge him hurt him.

It's good he didn't answer the bell because Tarver whaled on him at end of the 9th and Green was out on his feet. Had he come out for that round he would have been flat on his back guranteed. I'm SURE someone is going to put this on youtube soon.

This is a good weight for Tarver, he didn't seem as flat as he did nor as out shape as he was against Nagy Aguilera in his heavyweight fight.

Looking like this if Bernard were to COME UP (highly unlikely) to 200lbs you may have a fight.

Tarver starched Green today. I barely gave Green 2 rounds and those were questionable.

According to aussies, "you become a legend by beating a legend". Green beat a 40 plus Roy and now a 40 plus Tarver beat Green! Oh wait...Tarver already beat Roy twice almost 10 yrs ago!!

Any Aussie boxing fan will tell you that if you want a boxing legend representing Australia, you'll get Michael Katsidis, Vic Darchinyan, Kostya, Fenech, Rose, blokes who are/were happy to take on the best.


So don't appoligise to us, I was all to happy to see him go down, prefer to see any Australian lose to credible opposition than claim championship status and proceed to handpick opponents and beat up cab driver after cab driver.

Wow, mad props to Tarver. Further evidence of just how badly shot RJJ is. Tarver stops Green in nine, and Jones gets ko'd by Green in one.

I think we can all agree that this is a pretty impressive win for a 42 year old Tarver.
