Comments Thread For: Khan: McCloskey Beats Prescott Easy, But Not Maidana

On September 10 at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, junior welterweights Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12KOs) and Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19KOs) will collide in a WBA final eliminator. The WBA's super champion at 140-pounds, Amir Khan, has faced both boxers in the past. Prescott handed Khan his only career blemish in 2009, with a first round knockout in 54-seconds. This past April, Khan won a six round technical decision over McCloskey. The fight was stopped early after a clash of heads opened up a bad cut on McCloskey.

I still get that feeling that Prescott rattles Khans cage. I hope Prescott flattens that quitting Irishman who fought like a bum against Khan, I was so dissapointed in McCloskey that evening. I want to see Khan and Prescott, that would be one hell of a build up and first few rounds. I know it's a few steps back for Khan, but it doesn't matter, Prescott still plays on Khans mind so he needs to deal with it.

McCloskey should win this one but i'd rather Prescott win so Khan can finally shut the haters up about his loss.

He is right, Maidana destroys both of them and you can tell he respects Maidana for the great fight last year.

Prescott v Maidana would be interesting. McCloskey is a boring fighter.

hopefully prescott blows right through mccloskey and can get a shot at maidana, but that's where i think he'd fall short

I am pretty certain Mccloskey beats prescott because prescott has shown he can be easily outboxed by mitchell and vasquez. Prescott aint gonna win on pts and if Khan found it hard to land on mccloskey I doubt prescott will land much at all. But I would like to see Prescott win because I want to see Khan-Prescott 2. This is prescotts last chance to really show khan he is worthy of a fight in the UK because if he loses, Khan will have moved onto 147, then it would be highly unlikely.
