    Who Watched Pavlik vs Zuniga

    Did anyone see the war that happened October 7th between Kelly Pavlik and Fulgencio Zuniga?? Kelly was knocked down in the first by a nice right hand from Zuniga but then took over the fight and won by TKO in the 8th round. Pavlik showed the kind of defense that gave him the nimiker "The Ghost". These two battled and Zuniga took shots from Pavlik that no other middleweight could have taken. Pavlik showed that he is not just a power puncher but a solid all a round boxer. He opened up a cut over Zunigas left eye by the 5th and then opened up a monster of a cut over his right eye that covered both fighters with blood. Zunigas corner stopped the fight and it was a good decision because Pavlik was peppering him with heavy punches that were coming more often.

    Zuniga is a warrior and kept coming forward even though he was taking some big punches and combinations. Zuniga has fought David Santos and lost, beat David Lopez(won the WBO title) and fought to a draw with Jose Luis Zerteche. This was a test for Pavlik and Zuniga with Kelly showing the world that he is a top middleweight. I am not sure after this fight if any other middleweight will fight Zuniga, he is just too dangerous of a fighter.

    I think Winky Wright should give Pavlik a shot at him on December 10th and I know discussions are in process. I can honestly tell you that Kelly is the real deal in the middleweight division and the puches he was landing against a very akward Zuniga would have definitely dropped other top middleweights and if Taylor was hurt by Hopkins he would have never weathered the strom that Kelly gave to Zuniga.

    I saw the fight and damn that's one hell of a bloody fight. I remembered Castillo-Corrales I when I was watching it becuase it was an inside fight and a lot of action. Pavlik is a dangerous fighter with good power and skills. Zuniga is one hell of a fighter too! He was caught with a lot of big shots but the ****er didnt go down. Damn, I want to see them fight again.

          ==================

          Sorry, but you're way out there if you think Pavlik is ready to handle Taylor, Wright or Hop. He's a fine young contender, but he's at least a year away and needs to upgrade his comp to some of Hop's contender types. Zuniga is tough powerful nut he cracked but hardly a top middleweight.

          This was not an inside fight. Pavlik did all his work outside ala a similar style to Wlad. When he briefly did fight inside, he was less effective and I hope he figures this out.
