To be fair to Mitchell he hurt Mike a couple of times before getting caught

He needs to stay of the ropes though, he got caught on the ropes a couple of times last night and he needs to cut that out

Yeah everytime he was against the ropes last night i was worried, he's got some good skills he just needs to use them more instead of getting dragged into a war,

I agree, a lot of people seem a little revisionist regarding that Katsidis fight, imo.

There were signs even within that fight that Kevin had the ability to take the play away from Katsidis. He didn't get smashed from pillar to post.

He got caught and responded badly to it. People can say that a lot of Katsidis seemed to shake Kevin. But we tend to talk about intangibles until we're blue in the face - for whatever reason and on whatever subconscious level Kevin wasn't up for taking the punishment.

You can compare that round 3 to Khan's round 10 against Maidana. Khan gritted it out on sheer desire. Mitchell got stopped.

              Let's do this.

Katsidis is the mark at world-level if you beat him you're one of the top dogs. It sounds disrespectful to call him a gatekeeper but if you can't beat Katsidis you're not beating any of the champs. And Kevin and Murray for that matter were stranded in that chasm between European and world-class.

I think Kevin gets him this time. And doesn't hurt that Katsidis is coming off two gruelling defeats either, let's be honest.

If Katsidis wins over here again he should insist on fighting here for the rest of his career. I think Katsidis will take the fight as he will believe it winnable and he'll make some decent dough.
Yep, I hope Mitchell gets his chance at Katsidis again but like you pointed out if Kevin cant beat Kats then he would never beat any of the top guys at 135..

I had Mitchell winning the fight against Kats before he got stopped. If he can box sensible he could win on points. Can't see him stopping Kats.

I would say he can't stay away for 12 rounds, especially the way he hangs on the ropes.
