Comments Thread For: Burns Not Pleased With Cook Win, Eyes Unifications

Ricky Burns retained his WBO super-featherweight title with a bizarre first-round stoppage victory against former champion Nicky Cook in Liverpool. He ensured he remains on course for those higher-profile showdowns on Saturday night but his win at the Echo Arena came in strange circumstances as he floored Cook three times, the first from a body-head right-handed double which seemed to injure the Englishman before further volleys put him down again and prompted his corner to retire their man.

You were the same poster who said that you thought Martinez had been robbed against Burns and even admitted you hadn't seen the fight at the time.

How about martinez work himself back into that position , by being active and tightening up his piss poor defence so he doesn't make a guy with a 26% ko ratio look like Ray Leonard.

The only reason Martinez fought Burns in his hometown was that he was the No 2 ranked super featherweight and thought he'd have an easy time fighting a feather fister out of the top ten .

I think it's B U L L S H I T how after some fighters loose & then as an excuse claim to have had an injury or to be sick right before the fight & that prevented them from winning or putting on a good performance..Cause 1st of all, right before a fight they get checked by a doctor to make sure they are fit to fight & 2nd if the trainer REALLY cares about their fighter, they will cancel the fight & even if they did have an injury or were sick(which I seriously doubt), then ¿why even try to fight if they know that by they entering the ring with an injury or sick the other fighter has a huge advantage & most likely they are gonna loose? I just think they ain't man enough to accept they lost & it's a lame excuse just to somehow justify their defeat..That's why fighters that cancel a fight at the last moment cause they all of a sudden got sick(which it could happen) or got injured have way more credibility than those who claim all that after they have lost..Cause if a fighter ain't 100%, he SHOULDN'T be fighting!!!

Not really..The reason Martinez fought Burns in Burns home country cause it would(& did) benefit him economically..Martinez was offered more money to defend the title in Scotland..& Martinez did loose fare & square, as a matter of fact he was hurt & almost got KO'd by the feather fisted Scot..
