Comments Thread For: Early Telefutura Results From Catano, Puerto Rico

By Jake Donovan - Friday’s edition of Telefutura's Solo Boxeo series, which aired live from Coliseo Cosme Beitia Salano in Catano, Puerto Rico, opened with 18-year old newcomer Eddie Gomez, who enjoyed an easy night’s work in scoring a first round knockout over Jonel Tapia.

Gomez, Bronx-born but raised in Puerto Rico, appeared to be just warming up, when a left hook to the temple – landing behind a tight guard – caused Tapia to freeze before the pain truly set in as he dropped to a knee in delayed fashion.

The shot was enough to wave off the bout without so much as a count, as the referee was none too pleased with Tapia’s facial expression as he was on the canvas.

The official time was 2:06 of the opening round. [Click Here To Read More]

Man!! These 2 Ricans fought the round of the year in my opinion. Round 6 of Berto/Ortiz ain't shit compared to Lopez vs Rivera Rd 2. Top it off with a ****ing sweet KO. Damn!! This fight made my night.

This was a very good & entertaining fight.. I saw a very close fight, but I wasn't paying full attention cause at the same time I was watching the Magdaleno fight on another TV... Velez got a good win tonight, but from what I saw he was lucky Valcarcel doesn't have pop in his punches, cause Velez get's tagged clean & flush pretty much & even thou Valcarcel's power ain't all that(or just about ain't there period) Velez got stop in his tracks a few times & if he gets hit like that by someone like Vazquez jr, he's getting laid out!!

I don't see what's the big deal cause "Tomato Can" Felix Rivera has been KO'd every time he's fought!! As a matter of fact this is the longest Rivera has lasted in a fight!! & that's REALLY bad...

For real he is the only one who looked good tonight. I had the other guy winning against velez. Velez is ok but nothing special at all.

What? Two ricans refused to not block punches with their faces? What is the world coming to?
