1st bolded statement: Corrales is losing in the fights to all the best before he gets the much needed TKO.

2nd bolded statement: Gatti did better than Corrales and the fight would have been interesting if Gatti decided not to box the best boxer in the game. Gatti didnt go down 5 times like Corrales and we all know Gatti took MUCH MORE punishment.

3rd Bolded statemnt: Look at this thread, several people said "Corrales top 5 p4p". There are people saying Corrales is in the top 5 p4p and these people are motivating me to create this thread. this guy is highly overrated by those that rank him high p4p. If people realized his shortcomings, this thread would have never been made.

The man relies too much on his power (and he's not a heavyweight) to win. I want to see him put on a boxing match instead of a "I need a 10th round TKO to win" type of fight scenario.

Corrales was beaten terribly by Floyd Mayweather.....but, we're talking about a bad loss to one of boxing's all-time talent. Mayweather fights his best when most challenged...& going into their fight, Corrales was Floyd's biggest challenge to date.

Calling Corrales "overrated" is ridiculous. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who would say he's one of the absolute (5th or above) best fighters in the world.

Where he's rated by the majority of real fight fans is where he belongs.

You cannot deny what he's accomplished, or question his resume.

    The man is a winner.

If Castillo wins the title, maybe we'll see a champion who isn't going down 3 times every fight. I think its time for "new blood" on the scene.

Castillo won his first world title in June of 2000. Corrales won his in October of '99.
Castillo has fought in a # of high profile bouts.

      He's hardly "new blood".

I want BOTH of these guys to have many years ahead of them. They are excellent, entertaining fighters.....who are constantly seeking out the best foes.

You know what I mean when I say new blood. Castillos "just arrived" to many. People had to respect him for his performance against Mayweather. He didn't go down like Corrale 5 times in either fight.

(PS: Floyds saying he had a shoulder injury first fight. I believe him because rematch was lopsided). But I still became a fan of Castillo after that fight.

Heart doesnt give you points on the scorecards.

Thats my estimation of Corrales. I like to watch him fight, but I think we have a slightly better Gatti on our hands.
Well you know you are right to an extent he is a slightly better Gatti....but I love watching them fight win, lose or draw you know it will be fun.

I dont like watching Gatti fight nearly as much as Corrales. Corrales has a good chance of winning... and actually fights people.

PS: For those that say I hate him, its nonsense. I have nothing but respect for a man who turned his life around.

i think his chin is OK. he goes down but always gets back up and is rarely seriously hurt. IMO, a bad chin is when you go down and stay down, like oleg maksaev. his agressive offense is the cause for him getting hit so much and getting knocked down.

I have in my top 5, not because he's a master boxer like floyd, winky or nard, but because of his big wins, few losses and punching power.

Bad chin to me is when you go down a lot of times off punches.

I respect your opinion but you also have to think that you're putting him next to people that are boxing wizards who have about 100 times the talent he has.... just something to think about. And I'd pick all of these people you mentioned to KO him (even Winky if they met at an agreed weight).

he'll always lose to floyd, bad style match up for him... nard and winky fight at 160, thats 30 pounds more than chico... but even on an equal basis, i agree they would beat him.. chico is not going to beat a DURABLE, master boxer... i think most people and myself rate him so high because of his accomplishments and talent, not cause of his boxing skill...

I think people rate him high because hes an exciting KO artist. And yes, hes beaten good people, but look at the fashion in which hes beaten them. I had him down against Castillo, Freitas and Casamayor in his wins.
