Just watched a GREAT 30 for 30 ESPN film yesterday called "A Night In Vegas"
had to do with Iron Mike and 2Pac's friendship and the fact that Pac got killed minutes after leaving Mike's fight from the MGM.....Tyson was one of the last people to see talk and touch Pac before he died.....
in this film there were two main quotes that stood out to me.....one of the sportscasters being interviewed said.....
"It’s great when people are pioneers whether they’re Jack Johnson or Joe Louis or Muhammad Ali. But we watch heavyweight boxing because a guy could hit somebody else harder than we can imagine anything being hit. And Mike Tyson did that again and again and again. He didn’t just knock people out. He destroyed them. And we got to watch."
and Mike himself said something close to the following
"Im in the hurt business and im good at it that's why im in it"
While this film was mostly about Pac's untimely demise.....it reminded me yet again why IRON Mike is my ALL TIME fav boxer.....
There are but a handful of people in the history of sports who can say that at their best they not only beat you but they owned you....they took your soul.....they instilled fear in to the core of your being.....
Hate on me if you must...but Mike was the most feared man in the planet at his prime...
never mind that at one point he was the most psychotic ex athlete ever...
but you cannot take away from the fact that he was the baddest man to ever step in that ring.
You cannot take away that awesome power and speed and shear brutality and fear that he brought in to that ring.
One can only wonder what could have been if Mike had better people around him...
Mike is a legend and he deserves his props...
