Sergio is not going to fight Chavez trust me.Chavez is going to give up his belt and say that he only fights who his promotor puts in front of him and that his job is fighting in the ring .Bob Arum will take the blame and say who is Sergio Martinez and say he is not a pay par view draw and that his promotor needs to do a better job promoting him and say he is not known in the states and only the hard core boxing fans know who he is. Does that sound about right.

The 175 figure people are citing was fully clothed and probably after a meal. 2 weeks ago Martinez said in his twitter that he currently weighs 169. And his training camp hasn't even started.

And his last two fight night weights were 168 and 170.

Next year he'll have more time to unify the division against real opponents. I hate seeing Martinez fight with such long breaks.
yeah, i thought he blew this entire year with just facing dzinziruk and barker. chavez better not run either, cause sergio is for some ****** reason stuck on dealing with the wbc belts. hopefully next year, he can get fights in with top contenders or some other titleholders. rubio, geale, macklin, pirog, i hope we see at least two of those names on martinez's schedule for next year.

i think arum will let the fight happen and see what goes down. i think now he gets it that jr isnt anything special and theres no sense in protecting him snymore. mexicans dont even like him.

Thats a damn shame, he should have kept the WBO titles and dropped the WBC.

I wouldn't say he ruined his career facing Dzinruk the problem for Martinez is their are no big names from 154-160 outside of Top Rank (Cotto & Chavez Jr) guys. When you live and breath from HBO you fight who they want when they want. What messed up everything was Danny Jacobs getting KO'd b/c HBO thought they'd be showcasing the next great middleweight fight. Martinez against Kessler would be a great match up if Kessler is gets the title from Steiglz.

i said he pretty much ruined this YEAR, not career. i do agree with you on the tr/hbo thing. all the top opponents at MW wouldn't get him much more recognition then he already has in the boxing world. none of them are big money fights besides chavez jr and perhaps sturm in germany (but i doubt sturm would face him). all the guys at 154 are smaller, but even then, i doubt they'd want to face him. the SMW division isn't too big in terms of big names/money fights in the US or on HBO either. i wouldn't mind seeing him fight at SMW, but i'd rather see him try and unify the MW division. that's why he's stuck on getting that chavez jr fight, it's the best known MW name in the US, with a good fanbase and guarantees a big HBO paycheck with a belt
