Manny, Floyd, Sergio - Interesting Point Made

    Someone posted this elsewhere.

Brah, let me give you a little insider knowledge here.

I have stood, literally, right next to Floyd, Manny, and Sergio when they were all between 2-12 weeks out their fights.

Floyd is TINY. He is an anomalie plain and simple. Every other fighter loses weight during training camp. Floyd? He looks like he weighs 140 12 weeks out of the fight and actually puts on muscle mass as training progresses. Bizarre. And he's only about 5'7, not 5'9.

Pac looks like he's a ripped 147 mid camp.

Sergio on the other hand - 5 weeks out of the fight he walks around at a shredded 175-180.

So we're talking Sergio Martinez having a natural 25-30 lb weight advantage over these guys. The moral of the story is that neither Floyd nor Manny should have to fight this guy.
    ---

Anyone else have any thing to add to this? Would also love to know the size difference between Maidana and Guerrero.

This is why floyd never pursued a sergio fight any further, floyd stays around 147 on fight night. sergio is at 160 now , no point in floyd fighting a catch weight and losing speed and power and putting him self in an unneeded disadvantage . Side from the fact that I don't think sergio could make 154 without killing him self

Hey why are there always height discrepancies when people report on them?

Floyd has always been billed as 5 ft 8 for his entire career, but a few people always say he's a bit shorter.

Same goes for manny, some people claim he's 5 ft 5 or 5 ft 4.

I said something to this affect a couple days ago...except I didn't know Manny was ripped that far away from fight time. I haven't stood next to any of these guys but when Floyd weighed in at 147 then hydrated to only 147-149(I forgot which fight) I knew he was small.

Where the hell are people getting 180 from? He had this one prefight weigh-in at 175 pounds, but that was clothes/shoes on and after a meal.

Here's a tweet from Sergio Martinez a couple weeks ago when somebody asked him about his normal weight. Keep in mind his training camp hasn't even started. He's still on vacation.
This morning my weight was 169. I could reach 156-157 without any problems. My ideal weight on fight night is 165-168

And his strength and conditioning trainer said Martinez would not hydrate more than 8-10 pounds on a fight at 154.

that's why he refused to be weighed in against marquez. in floyds extended retirement he put on tons of muscles. no way he's 147 on fight night

i agree, and iv'e said it before.....neither guy has anything to prove by fighting Martinez. This is interesting because Floyd said something along these lines during the promo for Ortiz when asked about the size disparity. He said he may be smaller now, but after training he will go in looking a good size, and he actually said "like in the Mosley fight where i was bigger on fight night"

Floyd has training down to a science i think. He is always ready to go.
