Should boxing use Compu-Box statistics as a way to score fights?

And get rid of the 10-9 scoring system. How about this.

Have 5 people useing Compu-Box and score it round by round and it all gets accumulated

2 Points for a Power Shot landed
1 Point for anything else ie Jab ect...

Something like this or something. Its based on CLEAN-EFFECTIVE punching right? A power punch is the most effective punch when it lands imo.

    Thoughts?

    no, that wont work either.

they need to revamp the criteria to become a judge though I think. And there should be like 7 judges, or even 11 judges. That way it should help reduce the impact of incompetent and blind judges.

compubox is just plain wrong a lot of the times. calzaghe landed 220 punches against hopkins? there were some rounds where he landed maybe 1 clean punch and it said he landed 20. boxing would turn into a freak show with guys just throwing hundreds of punches trying to get the most points.

Problem is that there is no quality control for Boxing Judges, one of the judges last night was pushing 80 years old. Ray Charles could be a boxing judge, requirements to be a boxing judge?

          1) pay some $$$

They dont measure your eye sight, your reaction time, nothing.

We need to ban anyone over 65 or 70 from judging fights because their reaction time goes down.

We need some solid judges that are accountable for their cards.

I would be fine with 10-15 judges do all the big name fights around the USA and UK/Germany/Canada. and if one of them has a habit of screwing up he gets fined/banned from the sport.

This is why boxing needs a central figure, State Athletic commisions are big big big jokes.

Just have them travel and let these senile old bums do undercards where a horrible decision wont affect anyone as much.

it's a good attempt though at trying to figure out a better way.

it would turn into amateur boxing if they changed it like that. Think how boring Olympic boxing can be at times these days because guys just try to land a couple shots here and there then get away. all they are doing is trying to touch the other guy and score points.

Last night I was thinking about something like computerized judges. Then I thought about fans voting in who they thought they won, but imagine with all the fanatics, biasness, and crazy fans out there, that wouldn't be any better than blind judges.

All I know is that there can't be judges judging anymore. No matter what they do, even revamping the criteria to be a judge, it will not matter, robberies will still happen. Judges should be eliminated altogether.

Sounds similar to the amatuer way of judging and that's even worse

if anything judges seem to be part of the problem and not solution. whatever you do should start on the top of organizations they represent. it's really surprising there are numerous organizations, but none really interested in bringing change.

Somebody should be hired to watch fights in slow-motion after the fight and carefully tabulate compubox numbers so we get more precise figures.
