On July 7, Victor Petrovich Ageev, who is widely recognized as one of the best Soviet fighters in the history of the amateur boxing system, celebrated his 70th anniversary. Ageev never won any Olympic medals but he was able to achieve cross-sport popularity in the Soviet community even despite the fact he had served his jail time for severe misconduct and abuse of a state militiaman in an urban melee.
