I think the fact that no official number has been released speaks to Arum's pride and embarrassment of how far short the fight fell from expectations. Personally, I thought, as I have with several of Manny's fights, that it wasn't worth making. Certainly there's always dollars to be made from a marquee fighter, even from fights that are clearly not going to be competitive but it seems to me there are far more worthy/younger fighters out there that will pose a challenge, but maybe that's the point. Move the Pacquiao gravy train along smoothly without hitting a bump, that way the managing interests in his contract continue to make money.
PBF has managed his career with utter finesse and IMHO is a model for other fighters to take control of their careers ahead of greedy business interests.Comment
