You read my mind.
Gomez fight makes no sense at all, pre Hatton fight it would have been a great fight. Canelo just dominated a top 5 JMW, if that's not an indication that he should step up his competition I don't know what is. Mayorga is alright because he can still ****, and Canelo still has a questionable chin. Vanes would be great because he is undefeated, not over 30, can hit hard, and if Canelo beats him his stock would rise tremendously.Comment

I know and like Alfonso Gomez and Vanes M. They are both excellent boxers - each with his own strength. I think Mayorga is more of an entertainment show who can throw in his particular brand of machismo. I prefer Alfonso to have this chance. He will be the toughest test Saul has ever had. I absolutely think that it is a winnable fight for Alfonso. I have long touted his strengths , while most folks here hammer him for the Cotto loss. I don't want to be defined by my worst moments in life, nor should any of us. Look at his entire resume and tell me he isn't a VERY legitimate opponent. IF Sual were to beat Alfonso, then give Vanes a crack at him. I also don't think Saul can handle Vanes. Folks are anointing this kid off a relatively soft track record but looking forward to his ultimate potential. I wouldn't make him a legend yet. GO GOMEZ !!!Comment

The Racket Squad: R-E-S-P-E-C-T
You can disrespect Gomez all you like.
The fact is that he's a total pro who always comes to fight.
A man such as this is deserving of the exposure, the opportunity and the payday.
Mayorga is a circus act and Vanes is tough but a defensive disaster.
Saul is still learning things that Gomez already displayed during his Contender days.
Can Alphonso win?
Well, I think Mayweather is going to get his ass kicked in September.
That should tell you what I think regarding live underdogs.Comment

Vanes is the only decent fighter among those 3 but I doubt they choose Vanes because he would KO Alvarez. I think they will end up choosing Gomez, who is not a 154 pounder but that is the GBP policy for choosing fighters to face Alvarez: they have to be old (above 34 years, like Baldomir, Ndou or Rhodes) or smaller guys (like Hatton, or Jose Cotto).
So mark my words, they will chose Gomez.Comment
