The WBC has just issued its new ratings. In the 140-pound division, where Timothy Bradley reigns as champion, Devon Alexander remains the #1 contender, while Lucas Matthysse, whom Alexander narrowly defeated, comes into the ratings at #7. Andreas Kotelnik, who also narrowly lost to Alexander, falls from #9 to #11. Ask yourself whether Mathysse and Kotelnik deserve to be so far below Alexander or closer to the top of the ratings given how close the two fights were. In the heavyweight division, Bermane Stiverne improves from #7 to #4 based on stopping Ray Austin. Stiverne also has the WBC silver belt, which puts him somewhere near the front of the line for a shot against Vitali Klitschko. Meanwhile, Austin remains in the WBC's top ten at #9 despite two straight losses. --Scott Shaffer

i mean the only way to rate a fighter for title contention is by the fights theyve won. mathysse lost to both judah and alexander regardless of what u think and kotelnik has done absolutely nothing since the alexander fight. i dont really see anything wrong with the ratings.Comment

Well this is the pathetic organization that basically gave a pillowfisted boxer a world title for no reason other than to set him up to fight JC jr because there was no way he would ko him and jr still couldn't convincingly win and is now a "world champion".Comment

And people still rate the WBC next to the Ring Magazine. I say crazy.
Ring Magazine, WBO, IBF, IBO, IBA, WBF, to the end WBC, WBA.
WBC and WBA are the WWE belts of the boxing world only popular and preferred boxers/nations get to wear the belt and keep it.Comment

WBC is quickly becomeing the biggest joke organization in boxing. Everything about them from the Jose Suilaman to the rankings is pathetic.Comment
