I just realized the worst thing that has happened because Floyd and Manny won't fight

It isn't that two incredible fighters won't fight each other, it isn't the *******s and *****s, and it isn't the crappy fights.

It's how ****** people have become when it comes to determining how good a fighter is. There is this unbelievably wrong belief around here that young and/or undefeated immediately means prime. That losing at all means a fighter is damaged goods and/or a bum. Victor Ortiz right now is considered a better fighter than the Miguel Cotto that Pacquiao fought. So many great veteran fighters are disrespected. People are retroactively looking at fighters and saying they were prime because they were undefeated. People actually call Glen Johnson prime when Hopkins beat him, and a bum when Dawson and Tarver did.

It's really irritating. Half the older fighters so many of you disrespect on a daily basis are better than all these young guys you consider real threats. Show some respect.

It's been like that for years man. It's just that nowadays we have so many new fans coming in that it's far more evident. I remember the same people who praised Roy Jones and called him the GOAT talked loads of **** the moment he got knocked out by Tarver.

It's been like this for years.

If someone beats Hopkins, he is a bum at that moment. He's old and he has losses. How good he was at that moment means nothing.

If Floyd or Manny lose, they are bums. They are old and shot.

I don't know why, but today this rant just triggered in me.

Who thinks Glen Johnson is a bum. Who said this? I have never seen this.

I saw Johnson-Froch as a 50-50 fight, and still Johnson is not old or a bum. He fought very well against Froch, just that Froch fought better.

And yeah I agree about Hopkins, he has been old since he was 35 years old. That's the story for Hopkins, always has been. When he was gonna fight Trinidad, he was too old and wasn't gonna win. When he beat Trinidad, Trinidad was past his best weight and he was too small for Hopkins.

Now guys like Miguel Cotto, sorry but he is damaged goods and that is very apparent in the way he fights after the Margarito fight compared to the way he fights pre-Margarito. If he has some huge comeback fight against a guy he's supposed to lose, and knocks him out, then people would be saying Cotto is back! But he hasn't shown us that. Like Ortiz people were calling him a bum and quitter because of his loss to Maidana, just how they treated Cotto....difference is Ortiz beat Andre Berto to silence his critics, in a fight he was underdog in.

Miguel Cotto has beaten Yuri Foreman and Ricardo Mayorga, woo hoo great wins, enough to say he's back...yeah right. He had to beat Manny Pacquiao, for people to say he's back, because that was the fight he was looked at as the heavy underdog and people doubting him, including me, I predicted he was gonna get stopped, and he proved I was right. Jennings, gift win over Clottey, Foreman, old Mayorga, just won't cut it for boxing fans.

Johnson at least has recent wins over Allan Green, Yusaf Mack, close fights against Dawson, Cloud, made an effort against Froch. You can't really call that guy a bum, he hasn't even been knocked down by any of those guys I mentioned.

          Same old shyt homes.

To me, a loss on a fighter's record is actually good -- know how terrible it feels to lose - know what happened leading up to the fight and during it so that those mistakes won't happen again.

I respect a fighter who loses (to a respectable opponent) and bounces back more than a fighter with an undefeated record.

In MMA, the best fighters always seem to fight each other. There's only a handful of undefeated fighters in MMA, and those who are highly respected have losses - and it's OK because they lost to other great fighters. Will never happen in the cherry picking sport called boxing.

I totally agree with this theory because if Manny or Floyd loses they are instantly Bums. Well maybe moreso Floyd than Manny becausepeople like Manny more than they like Floyd. What really baffles me is that they consider Floyd over-rated because of the fighters he fought and Manny great for beating the same guys at either a catch-weight or when they were way past there Prime. Is it WLAD fault that there is no one to challenge him right now outside of Povetkin or his brother. Mayweather reminds me alot of Sweetpea and his ring generalship, because the name of the game is Boxing and he does that better than anyone else right now. When he gets in the ring and figures his opponent out and they dont have a Plan B it becomes a sparring match without much drama and with him taking much damage or finishing his opponent. Should he be criticzed for be the best at what he does or praised for being smart like Peyton Manning. In the end of there careers boxers have to realize that all of the brain trauma and punishment that there body has taken will come back to haunt them like ALI. If a fighter loses one fight doesnt mean he cant come back in a trilogy like Gatti and Ward. So praise the fighters for the display of professionalism and realize this isnt always a NOMAD sport but one that has gameplans and strategies like any other. Those that exhibit the ability to execute that gameplan usually win and those that fall into a trap whether it be from stamina issues, pressure or one big shot just didnt cut the mustard.
