Comments Thread For: Povetkin: I'm Tired of Waiting, I Want Klitschko Title Shot

Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15KOs) is tired of waiting for a title shot. He tells Izvestia that he's "ripe and ready to fight for the championship." Povetkin, like David Haye, has been talking about a Klitschko fight for several years. After two years of negotiations, Haye finally stepped in the ring with Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday night in Germany and lost a twelve round decision.

I cant believe he had a nerve to say that. He already ducked out of two official title shots and now he says that he cant wait. What a ****.

Good. I thought this should be Wlad's next opponent if he was ready this time. If he says he's ready then make it happen.

So this is the logic of Povetkin: Haye could duck out of a couple of already agreed Klitschko fights and then pick up the payday of his life against Wladimir. Povetkin also has chickened out of a couple of Klitschko shots already, so he deserves the same chance as Haye? That is absolutely hilarious.

Anyway, more realistically: Povetkin may well get his chance at the WBA championship. But as Klitschko is now either WBA Unified og Super Champ, whatever they call it, Ruslan Chagaev and Alexander Povetkin are no. 1 and 2 in the WBA ratings and would be first in line to fight for the WBA "Ordinary" title.

Povetkins promoter, Team Sauerland, won't touch the Klitschkos if they are to be "dictated" the terms, so a direct Klitschko shot for Povetkin will surely not be in the cards. And by the way, these days Team Sauerland seems to more interested in pushing Robert Helenius.

                  This.

I'm conflicted. I want to see Povetkin in a title fight finally but i'd also really like to see him vs Chagaev. Based on his cowardly behaviour i say he should have to earn it by beating Chagaev plus we get what should be a really exciting fight imo.
