Taylor is done as done can be. When you get flattened by a one trick pony like Arthur Abraham, you know your time at the elite level has expired. Sounds harsh, but I'm saying this for the sake of Taylor's health. I thought he was dead after Abraham lowered the boom on him like he did.

thanks for the update. id love to see taylor back in the ring but he needs to have his affairs in order. he never seems to take responsibility for his losses, hes always blaiming something. moving up and down in weight switching trainers and whatnot.

he needs to sit down and figure out what the real problem is, how he needs to improve as a fighter and what ppl he needs around him to make that happen. he needs a good team around him, right now it seems like chaos as far as his team is concerned not to mention more excuses and quick fixes.

The ONLY way I wanna see Taylor come back is with Pat Burns on board. He's the ONLY guy that I trust to have Jermain's best interests ahead of his own.

Im dying to know the nature of the deterioration.

I know Burns cant stand that snake DiBella. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

I also know that Pat calls the shots in training camp, and, if JT wanted to try and move camp to AK, then Pat probably told hium to "go fish".

        We'll see.

JT is one of my favorite fighters ever
and will be until the day i die

there's nothing i want more than for him to enjoy a comfortable retirement from the sport of boxing
he's a fraction of what he used to be. abraham knocked him cold and he hit the canvas hard while completely unconscious. he's had two measurable head injuries at this point in his career (once against wright from a clash of heads, and the severe one sustained in the abraham fight)
he's also been stopped twice in wars ( pavlik and froch. both times he gassed out and took sustained punishment from bigger men who punched very hard)

not to mention all the punches taken in victory in a long and hard AM career, and a short but top shelf run at the championship level in the pros

its going to kill me to see him out there taking punches
          stay retired JT

i just rewatched his fight with alfredo cuevas in Littlerock recently
goddamn i loved watching that kid fight in his prime

I dont think he should be allowed to come back.

His last loss was a very bad KO and he sustained concussion. This guy could honestly die in the ring if he fights on.

Mind you, its good that he has taken a 2 year break.

Even at that, I dont think he should come back though.

It seems a lot to risk (his life) for little in return (I seriously doubt he'll achieve anything)

Are you serious? When has Taylor made excuses for his losses? Every time he loses he gives credit to his opponent for being the better man on that night. He's often disappointed in himself, and questions where he went wrong, but he doesn't offer up excuses. Him moving up or down in weight and changing trainers is just his way of doing what he feels is best for him.

Sounds like chaos ruling in Taylor's camp. This comeback doesn't appear to be well thought out unfortunately.
Personally I thought it was strange that Dan Rafael broke the story via trainer Pat Burns, instead of Taylor speaking directly to the local media himself. JT has always made himself very available to newspaper and TV outlets in the state, so what does it say that none of them have been able to get an interview with the guy? I suspect that Burns may have jumped the gun on spilling the beans to ESPN about a possible August return, and maybe it upset Jermain or those close to him.

One of the things Pat Burns said was that Jermain had the full support of his wife, Erika... maybe JT just led him to believe that was the case, and was training for a comeback behind her back?

Maybe Jermain is pushing for a tougher opponent than Burns thinks he's ready for? He's on the record saying he doesn't like fighting "tune-ups."

Who knows, all just speculation until we hear more or until a fight is officially announced.

Taylor should just feast of a string of bum opponents so he can retire on a winning note. I'd hate to see Jermaine get KO'd again. He's a humble and honest guy and he had his run at the elite level...
