Haye is such a frustrating fighter to watch

People say Haye's defence sucks but I think last night proved that was bull**** - he may not have great footwork but he does have great head movement. Also, people say his chin sucks - not at all. He took some huge Wlad shots and wasn't bothered at all.

The problem with Haye is he just doesn't punch enough. No heavyweights seem to recognise Wlads vulnerabilities even though they are so obvious. When Wlad gets rushed he just steps back (and makes no effort to move laterally) with his chin in the air and stops with his left hand down. He is so open when he does this! The problem is all the heavyweights rush forward with two or three punches then they stop. If they kept coming forward they would land on Wlad. Also, fighters don't need to worry about rushing Wlad because he cannot counter-punch whatsoever. He never lands when getting rushed he just moves back.

If Haye punched more he would have looked a lot better (not saying he would have won) and this is why Haye (who is more talented than given credit for) is so frustrating to watch.

Emanuel is supposed to be so good, but cant teach Wlad to counterpunch when going back and move laterally?

You wonder why Wlad is so effective then lacking so much in certain areas.

      Easier said than done.

Klitschko is a lot more elusive than I ever gave him credit for. Even if you reach him, he seems to move his head at just the right angle to slip the punch, leaving his opponent out of balance and not ready to throw again. His defensive nous is underrated. Considering his size, he has one of the best defenses in the sport.

I think he would've punched more last night if he saw his punches having an effect. Because he was leaping in they were just bouncing off Wlad. Must have demoralised him. But why he kept looking for the KO when he was clearly unable to hurt Wlad is beyond me. Had he increased his work rate and stopped trying to load up on a big punch he might have taken a couple more rounds. Add in the point deduction and suddenly things are pretty close.

Any fighter who runs is frustrating to watch. There's a difference between using footwork and just plain trying to get away. I thought Haye would fight a kill or be killed fight. Screw him. Let him retire.

Haye didn't run. He fought off the back foot looking for openings.

This wasn't a Mosley or Dirrel type of performance.

There wasn't enough punching figured into his movement to say he boxing off the back foot. At first, yes. All night long? I don't think so. He didn't seem to have much in the fight. Though as you say, it wasn't as bad as Dirrell or Mosley.

People don't understand just how flawed Wlad is. Why do people think his defence is excellent? Someone fast who will come forward and throw loads of punches would be Wlad's nightmare because he has no defence for this kind of attack he just moves back in a straight line with his chin in the air: he can make the first few miss but trust me someone using the strategy I mentioned would land a lot. Wlad cannot counter punch of the back foot whatsoever and has no lateral movement. Someone who can't counterpunch of the back foot should move laterally...

Haye wasn't running - his footwork or stamina isn't good enough to do that for 12 rounds. He was making Wlad look quite silly with his head movement at times.

Haye is a waste of talent who could have done more than he has (or looked better).
