I have been looking foward to this fight for a few years now and even though after watching the Valuev and Harrison fights i had come to the conclusion that it could be a bad style match up with no action it still had a massive buzz about it.
Everyone in the UK was talking about the fight and loads of my mates watched it but sadly this fight as i feared was poor, all my mates were texting me telling me it was crap some said they would not watch boxing again and that UFC is much better. Sadly not a great advert for boxing we really did need a good fight it didnt matter who won.
Haye:
One of the problems for Haye was his basic technique, style and work rate he seemed unable to throw the double jab due to his poor footwork, his work rate as in the Valuev fight was awful. When he did throw the jab it landed at times but he just didn't throw enough and seemed to be content as in the Valuev fight to have a very low output and try and win each round with one or two power punches. Haye also had some success to the body but was unable to throw enough body punches to wear Wlad out. When he did charge forward with punches to the head because he hadn't jabbed to get inside he was far to out at range to land effectively, he did get in a good power shot every couple of rounds but that was never going to win him the fight. His upperbody movement was good enough to slip a fair number of Wlads jabs. Any punches that wlad landed didn't seem to bother him at all.
If Haye wants to continue he desperately needs a new trainer to improve his technique and a new conditioning coach.
Wlad:
Wlad was as expected working behind the jab and trying to land the right hand. From the start of the fight Wlad took the centre of the ring and was pushing Haye back but at the same time was very defensive in nature. he was missing a lot of jabs enough were landing to build up the points and he was controlling the pace for the entire fight. His defence looked good and he was able to move back quickly to avoid most of what Haye had to offer. When Wlad did take some punches he seemed ok in general and even when he was slightly stunned in the 12th he was easily able to tie Haye up and recovered quickly.
Wlad's main problem seemed to be his inability to setup punches outside the jab, with Haye moving his head out the way of a lot of Wlads jabs it was difficult for Wlad to setup any of his other punches as everything for him comes of the jab, his lack of body punching and combinations while he had Haye on the ropes cost him the chance to land anything telling barring a few right hands on Haye.
I believe Wlad should keep doing what he's doing there's no need to change anything, although many fans and especially casual fans don't like his style Klitschko is very effective just rather bland.
