They both came in amazing shape and fought to the best of their abilities. On the scorecards it was pretty lopsided, but Haye landed some nail-biting shots shots throughout the fight. He is a great boxer and a pretty good heavyweight.
In the end though, he just wasn't quite fast enough, quite big enough, quite strong enough to dethrone Wlad. Even though he didn't land a lot of punches, he still marked Wlad up.
Wlad didn't take Haye lightly. He and Steward had an excellent game plan and were ready for all that Haye had to offer. I was disappointed Wlad didn't get the KO, but if he had been any more aggressive he might have gotten clipped himself. It was a great performance from him.
I want to see Haye stay at Heavyweight and build himself back up. I would be disappointed if he really retires after tonight.
Also: Haye kept dropping down on purpose so Wlad couldn't lean on him or hold. This was completely obvious to me. Is the HBO team that clueless/incompetent??
