If Haye wins, we will have a new heavyweight champion

First off I think it's surreal that this fight is actually happening

After 2 years of wife beating, steroid lawsuits, $1 million per pound catchweight agreements, etc, it almost feels fake that a big title fight is actually... Happening, at all, regardless of the result. So that's great.

That said, if Haye wins tonight, we will have a brand new world heavyweight champion: Alexander Povetkin!!!

Sorry but that's what kills it for me, even if Haye wins everyone knows it's a David vs Goliath miracle and he doesn't have any staying power at HW. There are any number of non-WBA heavyweights who could slap him silly.

6 months to a year from now, he's either going to retire or be walked over by Povetkin/Vitali/Chambers/Adamek.

He took the meaningless WBA shortcut to this fight, lets not forget. Being the champ/#1 contender from the WBA means you're on the fringe of the top 10 in reality.

He won't be an undisputed HW champ if he wins, though. Vitali has the WBc belt.

Vitali will retire very soon (I hope, unless he wants to tarnish one of the best records ever with lame retirement fights until he can barely walk). Even if he fights Haye, it would probably be his "farewell".

Haye may land a hail mary on Wlad and walk away with the belts tonight, but there's no way he'll still be champion a year from now.

Any one of the "I can beat anyone not named Klitschko" gang who have been waiting around for years will swoop down and take everything Haye has. Or Haye will simply retire before they have the chance.

Not at all a surprise if Povetkin ends up unified champ by not having to fight a Klitschko for it. He has to be cheering for Haye tonight whether openly or secretly, because that pretty much means he gets a belt very soon.
