First of all Ortiz was Goldenboy's goldenboy, Until he quit against Maidana and started to laugh and joke about the no-mas like a goofy kid, Oscar and GBP clearly lost alot of money on Ortiz, Ortiz then took a backseat and Khan who they just recently signed became Goldenboys goldenboy, The wins over Malignaggi and Maidana helped maintain that, Then Victor beats Andre Berto in what was a thrilling fight while Khan had a stagnant fight against McCLoskey, Ortiz was rewarded with a fight against Mayweather.

Now Ortiz has massive support in the US, Not just that but he is big in the Spanish speaking world, Mexico, South America and the others. Khan is hated to say the least in the UK because of his ethnic background and the fact that Asians dominate business in the UK, But Khan does have solid support amongst the Asian nations like Pakistan and the Philipines and the middle east.

So out of these two who has the larger fanbase and popularity?

Kahn is the most high profile boxer in the UK, he has a small minority of haters. No one cared about Ortiz til he got the Mayweather fight.

Khan is actually well known in the asian countries, I know he gets interviewed by pakistani channels and the phillipines know who he is cuz he trains with manny and there good friends. also khan's training, press conference vids etc are shown on the manny pacquiao website.

I would say Khan's fanbase is largely UK and a small minority Asian based. He is growing in stature in the States and he's only just beginning to take root.

Ortiz on the other hand has a strong US fanbase and a strong Mexican fanbase at the same time and on the back of that he is MASSIVE in the US compared to Khan.

The US is where Khan needs to be MASSIVE. Ortiz doesn't need that. He's happy where he is in California, Mexico :P

Ortiz could NEVER sell a PPV off his own name in Europe.

Ortiz because he isn't from UK. So he is more known. That and he is chicano, so he has that angle to work.
