I see so many fighters get discredited because they get hurt in a fight. What do you guys expect? It's the hurt business. People aremeant to be hurt. How can you expect someone to go their whole career without getting hurt when they get punched in the head for a living. It is unfair to the boxers and true fans know that you cant discredit a boxer's skills just because he gets hurt. Some people discredited mayweather when he was hurt vs corley. Same with Cotto vs corley. Jones vs Tarver..Its just unreal how crazy this forum can get

There have been a lot of great fighters with weak chins; I also do not see what the point of discrediting them is. So they have bad equillibrium, so what? They are still super talented fighters, and a lot of fun to watch. No, they don't have granite chins like Toney, Gatti, etc, but they are still excellent fighters, so why say anything bad about them?

It's really getting annoying, all these armchair athletes in here.

I agree. Guys like Cotto and Corrales are extremely ****ing exciting because its either kill or be killed with those guys.

People basically want to watch two guys sit there and pound each others head in for 11 1/2 rounds until one finally crumbles and is knocked out. It would be nice if things went like that but it's not reality so people need to get over it.

Gatti doesn't have a granite chin...he has a huge heart but that dude has been KD'ed and hurt just about as much as any other fighter in the history of the sport.

Exactly Gatti hardly has a granite chin, he has a granite heart but granite chin.

That's very true. I was just throwing names out there, to be honest. Gatti has taken more of a beating than half of the guys out there today, though.

At any rate, my point still stands that while not all fighters have granite chins, they can still be great, exciting fighters. Your examples were great to illustrate this point.

Good post. I agree especially when it comes to fighters that have been down once. If the fighter gets hurt many times, then it's fair for people to say that he has a glass jaw.
