and to be honest I like Vic having a chip on his shoulder. This whole build up has been focused on the aspect of Mayweather coming back and how grateful Vic should be to be given the chance to fight Floyd

In reality, the belts don't mean **** anymore. Yes, its a good tool to use to help sell the fight to the masses (casual boxing fans who don't know any better) but other than that, Floyd could care less about that belt. In this case, the belt is use to lend credibility to Vic as a viable opponent for Floyd. Floyd didn't fight for mosley's belt because Mosley was already established and well known so they didn't need his belt to sell the fight.
