Mayweather should thank Berto for bailing him out TWICE.

I've seen a few threads about how Mayweather is out maneuvering Pac in their chess match... which I DO agree with to a certain extent. However, giving Mayweather ALL the credit and touting him as some kind of genius is ridiculous. Here's why...

When Pac signed for the Clottey fight in 2010 after the Mayweather negotiations fell through, Besides Sergio Martinez, (who both will NEVER fight) Mayweather had NO credible opponent he could possibly face that wouldn't result in a media backlash against him. Enter Berto. Berto pulls out of the Mosley fight because of the earthquake in Haiti and gives Mayweather an out as far as an opponent.

Forward to 2011. There are 3 possible opponents on the short list to fight Pacquiao...Marquez, Mosley, Berto. Pac defeats Mosley and signs on to fight Marquez next. Berto and Ortiz put on a fight of the year performance and Ortiz wins in exciting fashion. Ortiz NOW becomes a credible opponent in the Pacman / Mayweather sweepstakes.

Point is, had Mayweather signed on the fight Ortiz PRIOR to the Berto victory, he's get destroyed for it. Berto indirectly contributed to Mayweather's "genius" chess moves.

Yup Boxing Tiger. If Floyd were to beat Pacquiao there would still be excuses such as Manny was too small, the needles from the random testing weakened Manny, Manny was overrated, etc.
