BoxingScene.com has been advised that super middleweight contender Darryl Cunningham (23-2, 10KOs) is seriously being considered as the opponent for former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (37-2, 32KOs) on August 6th in Youngstown, Ohio. Pavlik's hometown return will be televised by Showtime. Pavlik is taking an August tuneup in preparation for a possible November fight with IBF champion Lucian Bute.

Pavlik can fight 10 tuneup's before he fights Bute and he'd still lose. I'm surprised Pavlik and his team want the Bute fight though. He just came back and a lose to Bute is pretty much going to end his days as a marquee fighter or his aspirations to be one again. I like Kelly but he's a very limited fighter. Great chin, respectable power but that's it.

Pavlik can bother bute with his pressure, work rate and power. Plus bute has been fighting nothing but tune ups

kelly looked rusty last time out..hopefullys he works out some kinks and can test bute in november or december
