"I saw in the Sun that Lennox Lewis said Haye is going to be the next Evander Holyfield."

A smug and certain look then crawled across his face.

I responded, yeah but Holyfield had a chin. Haye hasn't.

He goes "I've never seen Haye hit on the chin, and he coped with that beast from the East pretty well."

I was like "But Valuev can't fight or punch for nothing."

My dad then huffed and goes "*****ng Lennox Lewis..."

One has to wonder if his lack of power is because he has to punch down at his shorter opponents. I haven't seen many of his fights, has he fought anyone over 6'5 before? If so did he get a KO or was it a full 10-12 rounds?

I think there is a maximum size where you start to lose your height advantage.

I would say 6"6 6"7 maybe? After that you just become a liability. He will never be skinny and he uses so much energy that him getting punched or him punching takes too much energy.

I just dont see a 7 foot guy being ripped and able to last 12 rounds throwing 75-100 punches at HW.

If I were to craft the perfect HW I would go around 6"5 - 6"6.

Obviously not. Otherwise he wouldn't bet on "the next Evander Holyfield" to KO somebody since Evander is one of the most featherfisted champs of all time.

            Other than that: Funny anecdote.

Funny, but yeah that's a problem, a lot of people just bet or say their opinions based on what some guys who are "experts" say. Valuev wasn't a harder hitter than Wlad, and of course he wasn't nearly as skilled, but well that's the way boxing works nowadays, most people believe what the media says.

Lennox Lewis and Haye are countrymen. Of course hes gonna stand behind him.

That would be like Vitali saying Wladamir is gonna win.

I love this story, though. Very memorable and I am thankful to the thread starter that he posted it.
