Undefeated welterweight boxer Mike Jones has expressed his desire to fight pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao after his most recent victory in his hometown of Philadelphia. Jones, who holds an immaculate 25-0 record, knocked out Raul Muñoz in the second round. He said in the post fight interview that he is now looking to fight Pacquiao. Arum, head of Top Rank and Pacquiao's promoter, had earlier tweeted that Jones will be added to the list of Pacquiao's potential opponent but not until next year. Jones added that should anything happen to Juan Manuel Marquez on July 16 against Likar Ramos, he is willing to take the Mexican’s place for the November 12 bout against "Pacman." "He is such a great warrior," Jones said in praise of Pacquiao. "Let's see how he deals with my right hand. I am much more confident now, and I am ready for big fights." Jones is the #1 ranked welterweight in the WBO and the mandatory challenger for Pacquiao's WBO belt.

Undefeated or not, the gang of top junior welters seem much more appealing to me as potential opponents for the Pac-man.

I don't like the idea. Why can't Papa Bob get Mike Jones a belt first then I'm all for it. Undefeated with a belt versus Pacquiao's WBO it will be a unification fight and a super fight for reasons of:

1). Undefeated
2). Never gave up (diss on Ortiz)
3). Has a belt - unification title match
4). A young fighter
5). A legitimate fight outside of Mayweather
6). Another true Welterweight fight (diss on Marquez vs Pacquiao III)

Pretty much, if Mike Jones picks up a strap along the way and comes 2012 he has a belt then it will be a great fight I can get behind. I would rather have Pacquiao fight Viacheslav Senchenko for the WBA belt who is also undefeated with a high rate of KO. Or Dejan Zevac for the IBF strap who is in a winning streak at the moment.

What I want is a unification match for Pacquiao dammit.
