I had Macklin up 1 round at the end. There is noway the scores should have been 116-112. That's where the robbery comes in is with the scores. If Sturm would'e won by a point there would'nt be so much controversy.

Yes, there must be a rematch. I hope that also WBA will order it. Even a draw would be controversal. I don't see how it can be 116-112 for Sturm.

I think that in general there is one important thing which gives a key to understanding such decisions in Germany like Sturm-Macklin or Huck-Lebedev. Please dudes, don't shout on me again and let me try to explain ;-) I know, in US you see it differently.

The challenger's domination should be really convincing. Often the challenger will fail to win in Germany only by being more active and throwing more hands. The challenger will win by landing hard punches, by bringing the champion into danger and trouble and making difficulties. That how David Haye decisioned Valuev in Germany. You could even see Valuev on wobbling legs for a moment or two. That's how Lebedev did not win a Huck fight - was very active but failed to be a real danger. Unfortunately, that's how Macklin should actually win yesterday. I think, if he would knock Sturm down or land few more power punches, there would not be any controversy.

Just watched the fight on You Tube. And I personally don't see how anyone could have scored any of the first 7 rounds for Sturm. I also scored the 9th for Macklin and easily scored the fight 116-112 for Macklin.

This was a weekend of controversal decisions. First alexander-matthysse and now this.

Sturm was landing the harder, more meaningful shots, but realistically the fight was either 7 rounds to 5 in favor of Macklin or a draw. Sturm was getting terribly outworked in those early rounds. If he just increased his punch output, Sturm should have won easily.

This was a close fight in the end. I gave it to Sturm although only by one. Just thought too much of Macklins work was forced and not effective especially the latter rounds....
