Comments Thread For: Back From the Abyss: Montiel is Ready For Big Fights

In February, 32-year old three-division titlist Fernando Montiel (45-3-2, 35 KO) of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, walked into the ring with a pair of Bantamweight belts and, two rounds later, left with a dent in his head from a picturesque Nonito Donaire left hook. It was the sort of devastating knockout veteran fighters struggle to come back from.

Too fast and too tall. Someone slower and not too tall. Montiel needs another tune up fight before a big fight.

if arce could beat vazquez jr i don't see why montiel can't
anyway with this win at 122 i have high hopes for montiel to win a world title here, i think he could take the wbo one from either arce or vasquez jr
also nishioka doesn't have the best chin and montiel could take him out either in mexico or in japan

This is what a great fighter is all about. getting back up and winning after a devastating defeat. Montiel just solidified his greatness in my eyes.
