    Cozumel, Mexico - WBC lightweight champion Humberto Soto (56-7-2, 32 KOs) won a ten round technical decision over Motoki Sasaki (36-9, 23 KOs) of Japan. The scores were 100-88, 99-89, and 99-89. The fight was stopped prematurely when Soto slipped on a wet spot and was unable to continue after spraining his leg. Sasaki went down in the fifth round of the fight.
