Sturm vs Macklin. RBR and discussion
Tonight german star Felix Sturm makes the tenth defense of his WBA MW title. Opponent is brit Matthew Macklin who is much better than previous victim Ronald Hearns.

Sturm has (as usual) had serious weight problems before this fight. This time he has had to shed a whopping 15 kilos. He made weight in style though as he tipped the scales at 72.1 kg. which was lighter than the challenger european titleholder Macklin (72.4 kg.)
Sturm ate a giant "champion burger" after the weigh-in. -
Does Macklin have a shot? I don't think I've ever seen Macklin, I always watch in hope to see Sturm lose but I doubt this guy has a shot, he already looks much smaller judgin' by the picture. It's probably gonna be a jab exhibition.

Felix Sturm told bild.de, that he aims to break Hopkins' record of most titledefenses. Old man Hopkins made 20 defenses and tonight Sturm makes his 10'th.Comment

Sturm UD, but I'm hoping he wins by KO. Macklin isn't in his class.

The fight is in Sturm's hometown of Cologne, Germany and the arena has been sold out for a long time.

Not really no. Macklin has looked poor in his last three fights against weak European opposition at that. He has a punchers chance, but even his power is somewhat overrated. He also lost badly to Jamie Moore in 2006, the same Jamie Moore who was stopped by Ryan Rhodes a couple of years later.Comment
